I am, but not because of any significant changes in the weather pattern in our area. We live in Florida where seasons pretty much look alike throughout the year. I’m glad it’s Fall because this is our favorite time of year to take a drive north.
We will be on the road from September 17, through October 13. Please pardon me for not being attentive to your blog posts. I’ll do my best. We will be driving from Florida, along the East Coast of the US to Nova Scotia, where we will spend two glorious weeks exploring that peninsula’s geography and rich heritage. Being a smidge Scottish, I am curious about the brief tenure of those colonists and the legacy left behind. We mostly go for the color, which we hope will be at its peak along the way.
I have finally recapped our Mediterranian cruise on the Silver Ray and have scheduled that post for next Sunday. I rarely ask you guys to visit me more than twice per month, so once again, pardon me for being indulgent. The recap is heavy on photographs, so beware. In the meantime, please enjoy my interpretation of ORANGE! Thanks to Terri from Second Wind Leisure Perspective for hosting this photo challenge.
The Color Orange
“Orange is a highly energetic warm color associated with enthusiasm, spontaneity, and quick-wittedness. Orange is energizing and motivational. It connotes good-natured sociability encouraging open channels of communication and freedom of expression. It stimulates both the development of ideas and taking action. It implies movement. Its strong association with autumn makes it a color of transition”. Source

Orange. One of my mom’s favorite colors. We had orange carpet and an orange kitchen sink when I was growing up in the late 60s and early 70s.

Dawn, I remember burnt orange and avocado green as popular choices back then. We are dating ourselves!

Betty, both yellow and orange are happy colors aren’t they. My favorite color is blue. It is calming and peaceful, like nature itself. I love your new assignment and can’t wait to read more of your stories.
P.S. I tried to comment on your post and the system asked me to ‘follow’, which I did. So, you might see 2 subscriptions from me. Anyway, I’ll check back in later to see if the comment went through. Just thought you should know.

Hooray for orange, Suzanne! Autumn has slowly shown her face this week here, but she’s still a bit shy. At least our temps cooled down significantly. I love your gorgeous gallery. You wear orange very well! (I have to wear rust or peach)! Enjoy your sightseeing drives north!

Terri, it is still high 80’s here but the humidity is stifling. Can’t wait to get on the road. Malcolm picked that orange dress. He said I needed to wear more color. Not sure it’s for me, but he loved it.

Lovely warm oranges and your title made me smile 😃 Have a great road trip! We’ll be on the road ourselves around the same time but on your country’s west coast in California. Look forward to comparing notes!

Sarah, California should be wonderful this time of year. Can’t wait to hear all the details. We are in ‘weather watch’ mode right now. Seems like there will be rain ahead of us. Oh well. There will be sunny days too.

Hi Beth, our bucket list is long and our window of opportunity is narrow. I’m glad you liked my orange gallery and my very imaginative title 🙂 I’m sure no one else thought of that one! Hope all is well with you. I’ll wave as we pass by on Wednesday.

Sounds like a fabulous trip and I loved you orange-themed photos (except the one on the top right – it only shows a blank white rectangle). That last silhouette shot is beautiful and romantic. 🥰

Hi Debbie, thank you for visiting Picture Retirement. I am sorry the photos didn’t load on your device. Most of them were resized for efficient loading. It’s too bad. That photo is one I took on a recent trip to Hallstatt, Germany. I think you might enjoy it.

Suzanne,
Around her, orange is everywhere since it is the color of University of Tennessee Athletics, and every East Tennessean has worn Orange since birth. I envy your trip up the East Coast. We plan for that to be our big trip next fall so I will be following closely. Your pictures are fabulous. Where is the estate with the long, winding driveway? Beautiful! Joe

Joe, I shot that ‘driveway’ photo in Tuscany two years ago when my daughter got married in Italy. We went to that spot for the sunset and to see those magnificant cypress trees.
We are heading out a day early (tomorrow morning) in hopes of avoiding the tropical storm that is also heading north. I have my camera batteries charged and several lenses selected. I think I’m ready. Take care and have a great week.

We really liked Halifax although we skipped the usual tourist destination of Peggy’s Cove and drove up to Braddock on Cape Breton – the lighthouse there is just as picturesque but far less crowded! In fact, not crowded at all !

Jan, you are not the first to tell us to skip Peggy’s Cove unless we are there very early. Thanks for the recommendation of Braddock. We will check it out.

Suzanne, I hope your trip to Nova Scotia is off to a wonderful beginning! Love all of your “orange” themed photos. Although orange is not a color I gravitate to for clothing or decor, I do love sunsets and pumpkins and Bird of Paradise blooms. Happy Travels! I’m looking forward to your posts. 🙂

Have a great trip north. I LOVE your choices for the theme. I’m a week late to commenting..yikes. Wow…those two chairs look like two I shared last week. So funny. We traveled to the NE states in 2022 and LOVED the fall colors. Even though we see them here in the PNW it just went to another level there.
